3 Robertsport High Teachers Dismissed
By D. Ignatius Roberts, LINA Grand Cape Mount County Correspondent
ROBERTSPORT, November 9 (LINA) -Three teachers at the Robertsport High School in Robertsport City, Grand Cape Mount County have been dismissed for “unprofessional conduct.”
In separate letters dated November 2 and signed by Commonwealth District Education Officer (DEO) Cerue Taylor and approved by County Education Officer (CEO) Dwight Harvey, the administration said the three teachers recently laid down their chalks, prompting a violent student demonstration at the school.
The dismissed teachers are Edward Whei, Vice principal for administration, who is also Mathematics and Agriculture instructor; Lissa Martin, General Science and Physical Education instructor and John Musa, Language Arts instructor.
The spokesman of the dismissed teachers Whei made the disclosure in an interview with the Liberia News Agency upon receiving their letters.
Whei described their dismissal as ‘malice’ on the part of the county education authorities because since they were assigned to the county in February this year, they are yet to be placed on government payroll.
He said all efforts made to have the county education authorities place them on payroll proved futile, forcing them to lay down their chalks to draw government’s attention to their plight.
