“Talk Less, Do More,” President Sirleaf Tells Cabinet
By Prince S. Nagbe, LINA

MONROVIA, November 6 (LINA) – President Ellen Johnson has urged members of her cabinet to “talk less and work more” to ensure the completion of projects being undertaken by the government.

The Liberian leader made the call at an intercessory service held in honor of her 77th birth anniversary at the Sinkor Assembly of God Church on Friday upon her return to the country from India and China.

“The only gift I want from you for my birthday present is to get your work done and done on time,” President Sirleaf emphasized.

Meanwhile, the Liberian leader has lauded Vice President Joseph Boakai for successfully representing the country at the signing of US$256.7 million Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact Agreement between the Liberian and United States governments.

The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is a bilateral United States foreign aid agency established by the U.S. Congress in 2004, applying a new philosophy toward foreign aid. It is an independent agency separate from the State Department and USAID.

Before a country can become eligible to receive assistance, MCC Board examines its performance on 17 independent and transparent policy indicators and selects compact-eligible countries based on policy performance which include developing their MCC proposals in broad consultation within their society.

The countries are also required to identify their priorities for achieving sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction among others.
