Traditional Leader Nudges Youth To ‘Put Nation Before Self’
By Philip T. Singbah, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, November 4 (LINA) -The Director of Culture and Native Affairs of Bong County, Joko Kuyon, has called on Liberian youth to work hard to prepare themselves for future leadership roles.

Kuyon made the call recently in Gbarnga, Bong County at a forum organized by the National Youth Movement for Transparent Elections (NAYMOTE) during the celebration of World Youth Democracy Day.

Kuyon said the progress of Liberia greatly depends on the youth who make up about 60 percent of the country’s population.

According to Kuyon, young people can only become efficient future leaders if they listen to elders and learn from them the basic qualities of nation-building.

He stressed that youth must get involved in agricultural and entrepreneurial activities as a means of contributing to the economy of Liberia.

He indicated that while it is true that youth must participate in political discussions and recreational activities, it is equally important that they engage in activities to improve their wellbeing.
