By Gabriel T. Bundor, LINA Lofa County Intern

VOINJAMA, November 3 (LINA) - A farmer from Salayea District in Lofa County has launched a “Farm for School Project” in the district.

Speaking to the Liberia News Agency during the launch of the project at the start of the harvest of one of his rice farms in Telimu Town, Salayea District recently, Alexander Gargu said his intention is to help less fortunate children acquire education.

Gargu, who has eight farms in the district, noted that the project is also aimed at reactivating communal farming in almost all of the towns in the district and that proceeds from those farms will be used to pay the tuition of school children.

He named the towns in which the farms are located as Wozie and Wuomai Towns in Zorzor District and Telimu, Gbanway, Gorlu, Ganglota, Bozangay and Klayea Towns in Salayea District.

Also speaking at the program, Salayea District Commissioner Barkolleh Kalakpayan lauded Gargu for the initiative and called on citizens of the district to support his effort.

The launch brought together local chiefs of Zorzor and Salayea Districts as well as representatives of the eight towns in which the farms are being cultivated.
