USAID, MIA Conduct Peace, Humanitarian Workshop In Lofa
By Gabriel T. Bundor, LINA Lofa County Intern

VOINJAMA, October 29 (LINA) -The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in partnership with the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has trained citizens of Lofa County in understanding the concept of peace and assessing the peace in the county.

The participants were also made to understand the functions of the county’s peace committee and its relationship with other peace networks in the county as well as identify local peace structures, among others.

The exercise was carried out recently by USAID and MIA at a two-day Peace Structure Humanitarian Workshop in Voinjama City, Lofa County.

Speaking to the Liberia News Agency (LINA) at the close of the workshop Wednesday, USAID Lofa County Peace Committee Project Officer Philip Kaleewoun, said the workshop was intended to build the capacity of local peace actors through partnership, information sharing and sustainability.

He urged the beneficiaries to serve as ambassadors of peace in their various communities.

The workshop brought together over 15 participants from different peace committee networks, government and non-governmental peace organizations, including local peace building groups across Lofa County.
