GBARNGA, October 27 (LINA) - A 33-year-old English instructor at the William V. S. Tubman Gray United Methodist High School in Gbarnga, Bong County has been charged by police with statutory rape of a female student.

Police probe established that Joseph Tokpa on October 11took the 16-year-old girl to a local motel in Gbarnga under the pretext of taking her to his house for books and sexually assaulted her.

Police account further revealed that while in a scuffle, Tokpa used the victim cloths to seduce her from shouting.

According to the police, the victim, while en route from the motel, reported to a friend of her brother that she was raped by Tokpa who reportedly was calling her at the same time to tell her sorry for the incident.

Meanwhile, Tokpa has been forwarded to the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Bong County for prosecution and will be remanded at the Gbarnga Central Prison pending trial.
