ROBERTSPORT, October 26 (LINA) -The Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment (LACE) in collaboration with Community Livelihood Investment Project (CLIP) has selected 450 farmers from three districts in Grand Cape Mount County to be trained as trainers in food production.

This was disclosed by CLIP Project Manager Andrew Macgona during a Town Hall meeting with the leadership of the county at the weekend in Robertsport.

He said the farmers have been selected from Porkpa, Garwula and Gola Konneh Districts, and that their selection was based on access to farm-to-market roads and availability of trained manpower.

The project manager said the 450 farmers who are expected to be trained will provide training to the farmers in the three districts to enable them produce more food and manage it properly.

He said following the training, LACE and CLIP will provide shovels, hoes, cutlasses and variety of seeds, including vegetable seeds, and cassava sticks to the farmers.

The project manager explained that out of the three participating districts, any one that will produce more food during a given farming season will receive an award of rice or cassava processing machine as a motivation.
