Ex-Educator Hails President Sirleaf’s Role Bomi College Disaster

TUBMANBURG, October 23 (LINA) - A former instructor of the C.H. Dewey Central High School in Tubmanburg has hailed President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for restoring academic activities at the Bomi County Community College (BCCC).

Academic activities at the institution came to a standstill as a result of a storm that hit the city few weeks ago, destroying several private and public buildings, including the college.

Making the commendation in an interview with the Liberia News Agency in the district on Thursday, Philip Sumo said the immediate intervention of the President is an indication of her commitment to providing quality education to the youth of Liberia.

Sumo, a teacher in the 1980s and prominent citizen of Suehn Mecca District in Bomi County, said the repair of damaged buildings as well as the replacement of damaged equipment at the institution must be hailed by citizens of the county.

“The quick intervention by the President will avoid delay in the resumption of academic activities at the college,” he observed.

Meanwhile, Sumo is appealing to the government and partners to consider the rehabilitation of other facilities that were also destroyed as a result of the recent storm disaster in the county.

He named the C.H. Dewey Central High and H.Q. Taylor Elementary Schools in Tubmanburg, among others, as some of the institutions that need urgent attention.
