By Richard D. Baysah, LINA Margibi County Correspondent

KAKATA, October 20  (LINA) - A Physical Education instructor at the John Wesley United Methodist School in Kakata, Margibi County has been charged with statutory rape of one of his female students and remanded at the Kakata Prison pending trial.

Police arrested Mohammed Keita, 35, based upon a writ dated October 19 from the Kakata Magisterial Court for violating Chapter 14, Section 14.70 of the New Penal Law of Liberia.

The writ stated that on October 6, Keita prevailed on the elder sister of the victim (name withheld) to call her to his house that fateful day.

According to the writ, the sister did, adding that Keita then took the victim in his bedroom, forcibly undressed and sexually assaulted her.

Meanwhile, because the case is above the jurisdiction of the Kakata Magisterial Court, it has been forwarded to the 13th Judicial Circuit Court of Margibi County, while Keita is remanded at the Kakata Central Prison pending trial.
