CSO Plans Memorial Home For Ebola Survivors, Dead In Nimba
By Wellington G. Patrick, LINA Nimba County Correspondent

SANNIQUELLIE, October 16 (LINA) -A civil society organization in Nimba County, in partnership with Search for Common Ground and IREX, plans to construct an Ebola Memorial Home in Sehyikimpa Town, Sanniquellie Mah District as a memorial to Ebola survivors and dead.

Early Actions to Return Stability & Social Enterprise Development (EARS-SED), said the project is part of the organization’s post-Ebola recovery program aimed at reintegrating survivors and commemorating the dead.

The Executive Director of EARS-SED, Darius Dan Wehyee, indicated that the decision was reached by citizens of the area recently at a forum presided over by EARS-SED in Sehyimipa.

The forum, which was held under the theme: “Recovering Together,” brought together 60 citizens of the district, including chiefs, elders, youth, women, religious leaders and the marketing association.

The Town Chief of Sehyikimpa, Anderson Lablah, told the Liberia News Agency recently that the proposed project was a “welcome development,” adding that such venture could be the most appropriate way citizens could honor families who fell prey to the virus.

Lablah said the cost of the project is yet to be established, but noted that a 10-member project committee has been constituted by the citizens to plan and supervise the proposed project.
