‘Make Hand Washing National Practice’ –NGO Official
By D. Ignatius Roberts, LINA Grand Cape Mount County Correspondent

ROBERTSPORT, October 16 (LINA) -An official of a non-governmental organization has called on Liberians to make hand washing a national traditional practice to prevent the outbreak of common diseases.

The Project Officer of Women Non-Governmental Organization Secretariat of Liberia (WONGOSOL), Finda Salay, made the call during the observance of Global Hand Washing Day Awareness on Thursday in Robertsport held under the theme: “Raise a Hand for Hygiene.”

Salay noted that even though hand washing was highlighted during the outbreak of the Ebola disease, it should continue in order to avoid contracting sicknesses such as running stomach, cold and yellow fever, among others.

Meanwhile, Madam Salay has called for the reintroduction of Hygiene as a subject in schools so that students will know the importance of hand washing.

In remarks earlier, the County Inspector, Eric Pinney, who deputized for the County Superintendent, admonished the joint security in the county to enforce the hand washing practice at check-points to ensure the safety of the people.
