6 Science Teachers Threaten To Boycott Classes
By D. Ignatius Roberts, Grand Cape Mount County Correspondent

ROBERTSPORT, October 14 (LINA) - Six science teachers assigned at the Robertsport High School in  Grand Cape Mount County by the Ministry of Education have threatened to abandon their assignment due to lack of accommodation.

This was disclosed by the County Education Officer, Dwight Harvey, in remarks at the end of a two-day Post Joint Education Sector Review County Engagement (JESR) Workshop organized by the Ministry of Education recently.

He said the Ministry of Education decided to assign the six science teachers to the Robertsport High school because there were no science instructors at the institution.

But, Harvey said, the ministry assigned the teachers without accommodation, noting that “the school stands to miss these teachers due to the lack of housing.”

He indicated that if the situation is not addressed promptly by the county administration, the 12th and 9th graders who are expected to sit the West African Examination Council (WAEC) examination will perform dismally.

The Liberian educator said the constant failure of citizens to provide housing for teachers has the propensity to create a setback to the county’s educational system that has a student enrollment of 35,000 at 167 schools.
