Bong Supt. Nudges Women To ‘Rise Against Divisive Vices’
By Philip T. Singbah, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, October 13 (LINA) - Bong County Superintendent Selena Polson Mappy has called on Liberian women to “rise up against divisive vices” that could prevent them from participating in societal progress.

According to Mappy, women “bear the greater pain in every crisis situation”, and as such, “there is need that they work together to put the Liberian society on a positive track.”

Superintendent Mappy, who was in Sweden recently to attend the conference on the United Nations Resolution 1325, made the call in Gbarnga Monday.

Mappy said she has noticed over the years that women have allowed themselves to be divided by others over different issues, noting that this is hampering their participation at all levels of nation building.

The UN Resolution 1325 conference, according to her, focused on women's participation in maintaining peace and security as well as other aspects of the governance process.

She said participants at the conference are working on proposals that will address women issues and explore possible sponsors for those proposals at the end of the training that is expected to last for a year.

Mappy then challenged women to unite for their total involvement in all aspects of the governance process of Liberia.
