By David Pamas Seedee

TUBMANBURG, October 10 (LINA)-The Superintendent of Bomi County, Samuel Folley Brown, has disclosed that the county has established a County Security Council as UNMIL continues its drawdown in the county.

Superintendent Brown made the disclosure in his briefing to the Special Representative of the Secretary General ( SRSG) of the United Nations in Liberia, Farid Zarif, during his visit to the county recently.

He said what the council needs now is empowerment in the form of training, logistics and resources to enable it function effectively.

He said security after UNMIL’s withdrawal is of concern to residents of the county, and appealed to the international community, including the UN, to empower the country’s security agencies.

In remarks, , SRSG Zarif observed that if there will be any security threats, they will come from persons residing in the country, and assured the UN’s preparedness to react to any threats at all times in Liberia.
