Aggrieved Women Of Sime Darby Plantation Stage Protest Action

By David Pamas seedee

TUBMANBURG, October 9 (LINA) - Over 60 Women recently stormed the Sime Darby Plantation in Gbarjike, Klay District, Bomi County in protest at the mysterious deaths of cattle in the plantation and neighboring villages.

The women blocked the main entrance to the plantation to prevent the management staff and employees from entering the premises of the company.

The head of the women, Madam Ruth Kollie, told the Liberia News Agency on Thursday in Gbarjike, Klay District, Bomi County, that the women are calling on the Management of Sime Darby to speedily address the health condition of cattle on the plantation and the nearby towns and villages.

At the same time, Madam Kollie has complained that since the chemical explosion on the plantation, the company has only provided food and water to the affected communities.

Madam Kollie said the women will continue the protest action until the company meets their demands.
