MONROVIA, October 8 (LINA) – The Ministry of Health has disclosed that it has begun working out modalities aimed at restoring the Catherine Mills Mental Health Center to full operational capacity.
The center is among other health facilities that were hit hard by the civil conflict, and have remained closed to the public since the end of the conflict.
Making the disclosure Thursday at the Ministry of Information press briefing in Monrovia, Liberia’s Chief Medical Officer and Deputy Health Minister Dr. Francis N. Kateh said the move is intended to address the frequently asked question of what happened to the Catherine Mills Rehab Center.
He said when it becomes fully operational, specialists at the center will handle mental health cases that cannot be treated by community clinics.
Meanwhile, Dr. Kateh has stressed the need for citizens, particularly youths, to reduce the quantity of alcohol they consume and avoid drug abuse as these habits are contributing to the high level of insanity among the country’s youthful population.
