MONROVIA, October 6 (LINA)- The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has vowed to contribute US$7 million to the national budget for Fiscal Year 2015/2016.
The amount, according to the Assistant Commissioner for Real Estate Tax Division at LRA, Lasana Kromah, will be raised through a robust and rigid real estate tax collection drive that is to be launched shortly.
Kromah told the Ministry of Information press briefing at the ministry Tuesday that the LRA has developed key strategies in order to raise the projected amount.
According to him, the LRA has engaged the communities by carrying out massive real estate tax education and awareness through robust media publicity, radio talk shows and public announcements.
Kromah indicated that the LRA will engage the seven cities, 21 Townships and 150 communities within Montserrado County.
He pointed out that this is a pilot project which will subsequently be rolled out to other counties such as Bong, Grand Bassa Nimba, among others.
According to Kromah, the LRA Real Estate Tax Division is currently ensuring compliance in the public sector in the three branches of government including appointed officials and civil servants in keeping with the Revenue Code of Liberia.
