By D. Ignatius Roberts, LINA Grand Cape Mount Correspondent
ROBERTSPORT, October 5 (LINA) – The Elders Council of Commonwealth District in Grand Cape Mount County has expressed concern about delays by the Senate to confirm the county’s newly appointed Development Superintendent, noting that this was creating setbacks in the county’s development program.
Tombey Chiefdom Paramount Chief Haji Sombai who expressed the concern on behalf of the Council in Robertsport at the weekend, said since the appointment of Mr. Kiawu in August this year, he is yet to take up assignment in the county due to the delay by the Senate to confirm him.
Paramount Chief Sombai told the Liberia News Agency (LINA) that the Council has set up a 13- man committee to meet with members of the Senate to ascertain why the new presidential appointee is yet to be confirmed by that august body.
Sombai who is also the speaker of the Traditional Council of Liberia Grand Cape Mount County branch, said the committee which is being headed by Ma-Kpan Pusah is expected to meet with the Senators next week to find an amicable solution to the issue.
