C.B Dunbar Hospital Gets US$10k Latrine Facility
By Philip T. Singbah, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, September 28 (LINA) - A local non-governmental organization,Grass Root Women (GRW) of Bong County, has turned over a latrine facility valued at US$10,000 to the administration of the C.B. Dunbar Maternity Hospital in Gbarnga, Bong County.

GRW comprises women from various sectors of Bong County, including the Marketing Association and the Traditional Birth Attendants Association, among others.

GRW Head Dorothy Tooman told the Liberia News Agency (LINA) in GbarngaMonday that the institution saw the need to construct the outdoor latrine facility following an assessment it conducted in 2014.

Tooman explained that during the assessment, it established that there was no outdoor latrine facility at the maternal hospital for patients, caretakers and the hospital administration.

This situation, she said, was causing embarrassment for the hospital’s authorities as few bathrooms within the facility could not accommodate the population.

Receiving the keys to the facility on behalf of the hospital administration, Officer-In-Charge Anthony Kollie lauded the women for the gesture and called on other well-meaning Liberians to follow suit, terming the latrine as a “relief” to the hospital.

The C.B Dunbar Maternity Hospital constructed in Gbarnga is the only facility in the county that gives priority to maternal healthcare issues.
