By Johnson Bobby Liway, LINA Grand Bassa County Correspondent

BUCHANAN, September 28 (LINA) – Selected students and faculty members of the Grand Bassa Community College (GBCC) are to study at the University of Forsyth in Winston-Salem in North Carolina, the United States in several disciplines.

This has been made possible by the Sister-City Relationship Agreement signed between authorities of the City of Winston-Salem and the Buchanan City Corporation (BCC) and the GBCC in the US recently.

The disclosure was made to the Liberia News Agency (LINA) by the City Mayor of Buchanan, Julia K. Bono, in Buchanan over the weekend upon her return from an official visit to the United States.

Bono told LINA that under this Sister-City Relationship, the College has also agreed to construct dormitories on the campus of GBCC for faculty members and students as well as provide buses and library supplies for the smooth operation of the institution.

According to Mayor Bono, while in the U.S she also negotiated with the President and some doctors at Wake Forest University School of Medicine who have agreed to come to Liberia to perform surgeries for different kinds of sicknesses and to also train doctors and nurses at the Liberia Government Hospital.

“I also met with my counterpart Mayor Allen Jones and members of the City of Winston-Salem Council who agreed to give BCC dump trucks, compartment truck, dust bins, fire truck and other sanitation equipment”, Bono revealed.
