Superintendent Brown Advises Sime Darby Company To Suspend Operations
By David Pamas Seedee

TUBMANBURG, September 26 (LINA)- Bomi County Superintendent Samuel Brown has advised the Management of Sime Darby Plantation to suspend operations until investigation into the cause of the explosion on the plantation is conducted.

Superintendent Brown said the advice is intended to protect the property of the company, the management, workers, residents of the
nearby towns and villages, which, he noted, is in the interest of the company.

Superintendent Brown told reporters in Tubmanburg Friday that he gave the advice during a fact-finding visit to the company.

Superintendent Brown told journalists in Tubmanburg shortly upon his return from Sime Darby that the Environmental Protection Agency (
EPA), the Ministry of Health & Social Welfare (MOH/SW) and other agencies will conduct the investigation or assessment on the
plantation to find out whether it is safe to resume operations on the plantation.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Brown has commended the Management of Sime Darby for providing tanks of safe drinking water for people living on
the plantation and for quickly providing medication for workers affected by the recent explosion that left several workers wounded.
