GoL Creates Two Additional Districts In Lofa County
By Ballah M. Kollie, LINA

MONROVIA, September 26 (LINA) – The Government of Liberia has created two new districts in Lofa County bringing, to 138 the total number of
districts in Liberia.
The new districts are Lukambeh Administrative District and Wanhasa District all of which were part of Kolahun District in Lofa County.
The acts creating the two districts were recently presented to citizens at the Capitol Building by the sponsor of the bill, Lofa
County District #3 Representative Clarence K. Massaquoi. Addressing the gathering, Massaquoi challenged citizens to uphold the purpose for which the two new districts were created, which he named as good governance in local administration and the promotion of development.
He noted that as virgin districts, citizens need to combine forces to ensure their development.
Also in remarks at the ceremony, Foreign Minister Augustin Kpehe Ngafuan warned against a repeat of the South Sudan situation where
they continue to fight among themselves even after obtaining independence.
“I anticipate speedy developmental activities in the Trinity districts of Gbandi Land,” Ngafuan added.
For his part, the Chairman of Lukambeh Administrative District Citizens resident in Monrovia, Boakai Kromah, pointed out that
dividing Kolahun District into three districts should not be seen as bringing division in Gbandiland, noting that it was rather for developmental and empowerment purposes.
He then lauded Vice President Joseph N. Boakai, the Lofa County Legislative Caucus through its Chairman, Foreign Minister Ngafuan,
LPRC Managing Director Sumo Kupee and all who supported the creation of the new districts.
The conversion of Wanwoma and Hasala into WANHASA and Lukasu and Hembeh into LUKAMBEH, leaves the original Kolahun District with only
Tahabah and Vohkoha Clans.
The bill creating  LUKAMBEH) District was presented to the National Legislature on July 18, 2013, while bill creating WANHASA District was
presented on May 13, 2014. They were approved and printed into hand bills on June 9, 2014 and January 17, 2015 respectively.
