Educator Wants More Vocational Schools For High School Dropouts

By Richard Stephens, LINA

MONROVIA, September 23 (LINA) –A veteran educator has called on Government to construct more vocational institutions to accommodate high school dropouts.

Bishop Leo Simpson, Principal of the Haywood Mission on Old Road in Sinkor near Monrovia, said doing so would enable students who are not fortunate to complete high school to prepare themselves for future challenges.

He told journalists Wednesday that there are not many career opportunities in Liberia to which dropout students can be directed to acquire the needed skills and help to build their future.

Simpson therefore wants the Ministry of Education reform program to emphasize the construction of more vocational schools with technical programs that students would be willing to pursue to also address the crime rate in the country.

He maintained that educational reform programs though important, must touch every area to accommodate individuals desirous of acquiring education to improve their living standards.
