Energy Venture Decries Refusal To Allow Wiring Of Zwedru
By Chris Nyenapee, LINA Grand Gedeh County Correspondent

ZWEDRU, September 22 (LINA) –The Operation Manager of Energy Venture, Nicholas Mpetey, has expressed concern over the refusal of shop owners and other residents of Zwedru to allow wiring to electrify the city.

Energy Venture is the firm contracted by the West African Power Pool to electrify Zwedru and its suburbs under its “Cross Border Electrification Project”.

In a communication to Superintendent Peter Solo, Mpetey said failure on the part of residents in the affected areas, especially Desuah Street, to move will have an adverse effect on the entire process.

He called on the local authority to prevail on the residents concerned to leave the main streets to avoid accidents when the wiring exercise begins.

Some residents and shop owners, mainly at the Zwedru Central Market on Desuah Street, told LINA that they are waiting to see the company commence the process before they relocate.

They claimed that Energy Venture is out of wires to complete the work, but is hiding behind excuses, an allegation the management has denied.

The local authority is considering options to avoid delay of the project as the Grand Gedeh project is already behind Nimba and Maryland counties where all targeted areas have been reached, one source said.
