Cape Mount To Decommission Ebola Unit

By D .Ignatius Roberts, LINA Grand Cape Mount County Correspondent

ROBERTSPORT, September 18 (LINA) - Grand Cape Mount County Superintendent Tenneh Kpadebah has disclosed that the Ebola Treatment Unit (ETU) in Sinje, Garwula District in Grand Cape Mount County will be decommissioned on September 30.

The Sinje ETU was constructed by the American Marines during the height of the Ebola crisis in the country.

Superintendent Kpadebah made the disclosure at the ETU decommissioning planning meeting in Sinje this week.

She said though the ETU will be decommissioned, citizens should do away with complacency even as Liberia is declared Ebola-free by the World Health Organization.

She urged them to continue to abide by the Ebola preventive protocols to avoid the resurgence of the virus.

Kpadebah thanked the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for keeping the building functional by placing workers at the facility on payroll since its establishment in September 2014.

Speaking earlier, the IOM Medical Coordinator at the ETU, Harihara Subramanian, lauded citizens of the county for the level of cooperation and understanding they exhibited in tackling the deadly virus.
