Legislature Pledges Support To NBC In Enforcing Accords
By Calvin Brooks, LINA

MONROVIA, September 18 (LINA) - The 53rd Legislature has pledged its support to the National Bureau of Concessions (NBC) to ensure that the bureau enforces compliance to concession agreements in Liberia.

The Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Concessions, Representative Eugene Fallah Kparkar stated that the NBC will be empowered to enforce compliance and not just to monitor and report on activities of concession companies in the country.

Representative Kpakai made the pledge at the official launch of the Concession Information Management System (CIMS) and Concession Reporting Template (CRT) held Thursday at that Monrovia City Hall.

He stressed the need to empower the NBC with legislative enforcement powers to ensure that all concessionaires comply, according to law, with the terms of concession agreements signed with the Liberian Government.

He noted that monitoring and reporting on activities of the concession sector have been lacking over the years, and that developing the CIMS and CRT will enhance adequate information dissemination to the public about the sector.

Representative Kparkar stressed that the concession sector is vital to the growth and development of the Liberian economy and that it should be given priority to transform the living standard of the Liberian people.
