Gedeh Principal Urges Joint Efforts To Maintain Road, Bridges

By Chris Nyenapee, LINA Grand Gedeh County Correspondent

ZWEDRU. September 6 (LINA) - The Principal of Towah Memorial Institute in Niao New Poahn Chiefdom, Grand Gedeh County, Amos Doelue, has underscored the need for residents to collaborate with local authorities to maintain the road and bridges linking the town to Zwedru, the county capital.

He said in an interview with the Liberia News Agency over the weekend that those facilities were constructed by German Agro, an agricultural NGO in Grand Gedeh County, making the chiefdom accessible with farm-to-market roads for the sale of farm produce and reducing hardship.

Doelue noted that now that the bridges have been rehabilitated with concrete culverts, the locals can carry out the maintenance by “side brushing the road without waiting for central government.”

“Student groups, the youth, market women, traditional leaders and local government can all play their parts in maintaining the road and bridges,” he stressed.
