PUL Fines Voice FM For Breach Of Ethics

MONROVIA, September 3 (LINA) - The Press Union of Liberia (PUL) has fined the management of Voice FM an amount of L$2,500 for intentionally breaching the Union’s Code of Conduct and Ethics.

The PUL has additionally directed Voice FM to immediately grant the complainant the right to state its side of stories aired about them.

The union, in a press release, said its decision is based upon recommendations by the PUL Grievance and Ethics Committee.

The recommendations followed an investigation into a complaint filed by the Booker Washington Institute (BWI) Alumni Association against Voice FM for using the Thursday, July 16, edition of the “Costa Show” to present “utterances and statements that were totally incorrect, erroneous, absolutely misleading and inaccurate.”

The statement was about a LD$300,000.00 pledge made to the BWI Alumni Association by Mr. Emmanuel Lomax on behalf of Mr. Benoni Urey.

The BWIAA complained that it was denied the right to reply.
