By Ballah M. Kollie, LINA
MONROVIA, September 3 (LINA) - Bong County Senator Jewel Taylor says the re-run of the senatorial election on September 29 in parts of Bong County is a test of her popularity and strength.
“I will do my best so that my performance will show my people's love and trust in my leadership,” said Senator Taylor, the ex-wife of jailed President Charles Taylor.
The Bong County Senator made the statement in an interview with the Liberia News Agency Wednesday.
The re-run areas, comprising two precincts and one polling center, are Sanoyea Market, Polling Place Number 5, Yarbayeh Public School Precinct and Beletenda Palava Hut Precinct, are all in Electoral District Number 7.
An August 7, 2015 judgment of the Supreme Court in the Case: Henrique F. Tokpa vs. National Elections Commission and the National Patriotic Party (NPP) Candidate Jewel Howard-Taylor, mandated the NEC to conduct a re-run of the election in the designated areas within 60 days as of August 7.
