Bomi Supt. Wants Lawmakers Away From CDF, SDF
By Richard Stephens, LINA

MONROVIA, August 27 (LINA) -Bomi County Superintendent Samuel Brown has observed that the involvement of lawmakers in the management of the County Development Fund (CDF) and Social Development Fund (SDF) is impeding development in the counties.

Speaking Wednesday on behalf of the Superintendents Council of Liberia at a one-day roundtable organized by the Governance Commission (GC) on the  management and use of the CDF/SDF in Sinkor, Brown said the involvement of the legislators was making it difficult for the Superintendents to make decisions on their own.

He noted that no law gives lawmakers the right to form a Legislative Management Committee to manage the CDF/SDF.

Brown argued that while it is true that there exists cordiality between the local leaders and their lawmakers, county authorities must be left alone to manage the CDF and SDF.

He noted that failure on the part of local administrators to deliver they will bear the consequences and therefore wants lawmakers to back-off from managing these funds.

He urged the Governance Commission to institute a legal framework that will make the implementation of the CDF/SDF to be county-based and not
legislative.
