Senator Brown Advances Way Forward In CDF, SDF Row
By Ballah M. Kollie, LINA

MONROVIA, August 27 (LINA) – Maryland County Senator J. Gbleh-bo Brown is calling for an integrated approach in the execution of county development projects, rather than the legislative caucuses backing off.

The Maryland County lawmaker made the assertion Thursday in an interview on the ELBC “Super Morning Show.”

The Governance Commission (GC) Wednesday recommended that legislative
caucuses back off from the management of both the County Development
Fund (CDF) and Social Development Fund (SDF).

But Senator Brown thinks that  backing off will not serve much good compared
to county caucuses and local authorities sitting with citizens to decide projects that they will sustain and take ownership of.

“What I propose is to have this in a wider and integrated form; that is all monies from the CDF/SDF or Legislative Projects should be directed to the projects as resolved at an all parties meeting,” Senator Brown noted.

The GC wants local leaders to be allowed to take their own initiatives to see who are delivering government’s deliverables in their areas, adding that doing so would help to curtail the misunderstandings that usually ensue between county authorities and their lawmakers.
