One-day Tax Clinic Held To Educate Manufacturers About New Tax Return Forms

MONROVIA, August 18 (LINA)-The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) hasheld a one-day tax clinic for local manufacturers in the country to introduce to them the new Excise and Goods Tax return forms.

According to a LRA press release, the interactive forum was attended by about 50 taxpayers in the alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages subsector at the LRA headquarters in Paynesville.

In remarks at the forum, the Commissioner of Domestic Tax at the LRA, Darlington Y. Talery, said the interaction was intended to educate that category of taxpayers on how to calculate and complete the new Excise and Goods Tax Return Forms in keeping with the Liberia Revenue Code.

The release issued Monday quoted Commissioner Talery as telling the local manufacturers that tax payment is lawful and intended to support government’s development agenda. He advised them to cultivate an attitude of voluntary compliance as large taxpayers and responsible businesses.

“You are our partners, and your partnership and collaboration are required as we work together in raising revenue to support the country’s development,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the manufacturers have applauded the LRA for the initiative, with several of them calling for additional meetings and education on the new processes of filing their tax returns especially since it is computer-based.
