Boakai Urges Youths To Abort County Sitting Disruption Plan
By Korboi K. Gbelewala, LINA Lofa County Correspondent
VOINJAMA, August 12 (LINA) –The head of the Lofa Chapter of National Traditional Council of Liberia says the council is concerned about plans by some youths to disrupt the upcoming County Sitting over the issue of a generator.
The generator, valued at US$75,000, was allegedly turned over to the county by former Superintendent Galakpai Kortimai but has not been seen since Kortimai left office.
This has prompted the youths to threaten to disrupt the County Sitting if the generator and other key issues are not adequately addressed.
The 2015-2016 County Sitting is expected to take place on Saturday, August 15, at the William V. S. Tubman County Hall in Voinjama City, Lofa County.
In an interview with the Liberia News Agency on the situation in Voinjama recently, Old man Boakai said the planned demonstration by the youths poses “serious threat” to the sitting; and called on the county authorities to look into the matter before the sitting is held.
He said though the sitting has been delayed for the past two years due to official engagements of the Legislative Caucus and other county officials, the August 15, 2015 sitting is crucial.
