FTI Appeals For More Logistics

By David Pamas Seedee, LINA Bomi County Correspondent

TUBMANBURG, August 10 (LINA) -The Executive Director of the Forestry Training Institute (FTI) in Tubmanburg, Bomi County is appealing to government and international organizations to help provide transportation for the institution.

Jeremiah Karmo said the lack of needed logistics, especially vehicles, is hampering the smooth operation of the institution.

Speaking to the Liberia News Agency in Tubmanburg recently, Karmo said majority of the students have to be taken on field trips for practical demonstration, but this is hampered by the lack of transportation.

He explained that the institution is operating two components - 35 percent theoretical and 65 percent practical - noting that the practical component needs vehicles to transport the students to the forest for demonstration.

The Forestry Training Institute which currently has 150 students and 16 instructors, offers three diploma programs on a two-year basis, including General Forestry, Wood Science Technology and Auto-Mechanics.
