Chinese Amb Describes Visit of Business Delegation as Good Warm-Up For
Foreign Minister’s Visit

MONROVIA, August 7 (LINA)-Chinese Ambassador to Liberia Zhang Yue has described the visit of the Chinese business delegation as a very good warm-up for the upcoming visit of the Chinese Foreign Minister Yi Wang to Liberia at the weekend.

He noted that the delegation comprising members of state-owned enterprises also the private sector, including the energy, mining, infrastructure and food processing, among others, the largest visiting business delegation to Liberia in almost a decade, comes on the heels of a high-level Liberian ministerial delegation visit to China recently.

The delegation dubbed the “2015 Sino-Liberia Win-Win Visit Delegation” includes the Vice President of Blue Seafronts Group, Mr. Peng; General Manager China Railway Material, Li Shu; Vice President of Sino-Tech Minerals, He Zhijun; Engineer, Power China, Mei Chuansheng; and Vice President of Hydro China, Zhang Nianmu.

Others are Vice President of China Harbour Engineering Company, Li Yi; Chairman of Sino-German Engineering Company, Wang Jian; Project Manager, SEPCO III Power Construction, Xiao Yunfeng; Manager, Henan Jingyuan guo ye, Sun Lei; and Country Manager, Huawei Technology, Oscar Zheng.

The visit was planned with the cooperation of the Chinese Embassy in Monrovia and supported by the National Investment Commission and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and State.

Introducing the delegation earlier, Liberia’s Ambassador to the PRC, D. Mckinley Thomas, said the presence of the Chinese delegation in Liberia is a manifestation of the close ties subsisting between Liberia and the PRC.

He said the pronouncement by the Chinese President, HE Xi Jinping of “win-win” partnership with Africa in general and Liberia in particular, is further manifested by the presence of the delegation.


 They have come to Liberia to say to the Government and people of Liberia that China is serious about “win-win cooperation”.

The Liberian envoy stressed that the relationship with China including all that China has done with Liberia indicates that China is a true friend of Liberia - tried and tested – that has not neglected Liberia Even in our time of crisis.

He noted that the visit was to ignite new energy into this relationship, in order to further strengthen it and to explore other areas of cooperation.

Ambassador Thomas hoped that with the cooperation of the Chinese Embassy, this visit will be reciprocated where a Liberian business delegation will pursue a “2016 Win-Win Visit” to Beijing, China to explore business opportunities there.

The Liberian diplomat indicated that during the Chinese delegation’s interaction with Liberian counterparts and government officials, exchanges have been frank and cordial, adding, that there are many avenues for future cooperation.
