PUL Wants Faces Of ‘Transformer’ Publishers

MONROVIA, August 6 (LINA) -The Press Union of Liberia (PUL) has challenged the publishers of the “Transformer” newspaper to bring their faces to the business of setting the agenda which fuels debate on the governance of Liberia.

The Union recently condemned the appearance of the strange paper on the newsstand in Monrovia without an imprint which carries the name of the publisher, staff, contact number and full address.

The strange paper’s Wednesday, August 5, edition lists one Mark Juliano as its Publisher with cell phone number 07705534845 that does not exist.

In a statement issued in Monrovia Wednesday and signed by the PUL Acting Secretary-General, Daniel Nyakonah, the Union said neither the publisher, managing editor nor other editorial staffs of the ‘Transformer Newspaper’ are known to be human beings.

PUL President K. Abdullai Kamara said the phone numbers and name, which is especially faceless, represent dishonesty and are far away from truth telling that is the code of journalism.

The Union is cautioning the public to “be very careful in dealing with such unreliable media entities as they are bent on causing chaos in society under the canopy of journalism.”
