Jorquelleh District Gets New Bridge

JORQUELLEH, BONG COUNTY, August 5 (LINA) - Construction work on the Kparnyan Bridge in Jorquelleh District, Bong County Electoral District #3 has been completed.

Vehicles and motorcycles are now plying the bridge, the Liberia News Agency correspondent in Bong County observed.

The Kparnyan bridge project came under criticism by residents after the contractor, Black Water Construction, abandoned the project, forcing residents of Bellequelleh clan to use alternative routes.

Some residents, who spoke to the Liberia News Agency, lauded Representative George Mulbah for coming to their rescue by completing the bridge.

They told LINA that the deplorable condition of the bridge posed economic hardship and isolated them from the rest of the county, describing completion of the bridge as “a complete breakthrough” for the people of Jorquelleh.

More than US$25,000 was expended from the county’s Social Development Fund to construct the Kparnyan Bridge, according to officials.
