Vice President Boakai Urges Unity Within The LMA

By Calvin Brooks

MONROVIA, Feb 23 (LINA) -Vice President Joseph N. Boakai has urged the leadership of the Liberia Marketing Association (LMA) to forge a united front in order to move the association forward.

Vice President Boakai observed that it is only when unity prevails within an organization that it can attain its development goals, noting that nobody would like to do business with any institution whose leadership is constantly in confusion.

The Liberian Vice President made the call Friday at the second National Convention of the LMA held at its head office in Rally Time Market in Monrovia.

The convention was held under the theme: “LMA:  From Conflict to Business”

He emphasized that if Liberians had always worked together, the nation would have been more developed than it is now.

He, however, noted that it is not too late for Liberians to begin to rally around each other to develop their country.

The Liberian Vice President assured that the Government remains committed to resolving conflict within the LMA; and ensuring that it moves to a higher level to guarantee that Liberians have food on their tables every day.

The Vice President observed that the LMA should not be a political institution, but a business entity that would ensure that Liberians have food in their markets, so that their standard of living improves.

In remarks, LMA president, Lusu Sloan, said the purpose of the second national convention is to bring together the association’s leaderships from the various counties in the spirit of true love.

Madam Sloan noted that the purpose of the LMA has not been realized over the years, because of continued conflict among the leadership, but assured that the LMA is now ready to move forward.

She observed that with calm and unity among the membership of the Association, the business environment in Liberia will improve and market buildings will be developed to international standard.
