KAKATA, August 3(LINA) - The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) in Margibi County has arrested an alleged drug kingpin in the provincial capital Kakata with17 kilograms of marijuana.

In an interview with the Liberia News Agency over the weekend following a raid on the home of the alleged drug dealer, DEA Officer–in- Charge in Margibi County, Lt/Col. Ralph O. Gooding, said the raid came after a tip-off from a source.

He said the DEA requested a search warrant from the Kakata Magisterial Court to carry out the operation.

Gooding identified the drug kingpin as 45-year-old Ben Segar, who is also said to be a money exchanger in Kakata.

The DEA official put the street value of the 17 kilograms of marijuana at over L$123,000.

He said it was during the search of the home of Segar that he and his men confiscated the marijuana.

He said following the raid on Segar’s home, he was arrested and subsequently charged with illegal possession of narcotic drugs.
