Senator Taylor Supports CBL Loan Scheme

GBARNGA, July 22 (LINA) - Bong County Senator Jewel Taylor has defended the decision by Central Bank Governor Dr. J. Mills Jones to initiate Village Savings and Loan Associations around Liberia.
Senator Taylor said the initiative by the CBL Governor is empowering Liberian women and making them self-reliable through entrepreneurship.
The Bong County senator said unlike the past when Liberian women were seen as liabilities to their male counterparts, beneficiaries continue to complement the efforts of their husbands in meeting family needs.
Senator Taylor made the assertion recently in Voinjama District, Lofa County when she was honored by the Voinjama Chapter of the Village Savings and Loans Association in that county.
The group, through its President Theresa Tuazama, said they were not only honoring Senator Taylor for her contributions that led to the establishment of the association, but also thanking God for her re-election.
Tuazama said the re-election of Senator Taylor at the expense of 12 men in Bong County signals yet a new chapter in contemporary democracy in Liberia.
The VSLS president then encouraged women of Voinjama to take a lead from the election of Senator Taylor and not to always feel inferior to males in any electioneering process.
