House To Convene Special Session Wednesday
By Hilary Vasco Wiagbe, LINA

MONROVIA, July 21(LINA) - The House of Representatives will convene a Special Session on Wednesday, July 22, to discuss issues of national concern before it adjourns for the Independence Day celebrations.

Two members of the House, who prefer anonymity, told the Liberia News Agency that the body reached the decision during an Executive Session on Tuesday.

According to the sources, the Special Session will mainly focus on the passage of the 2015/2016 National Budget in the tune of US$604 million, which was submitted to the National Legislature on May 31 by the Executive Branch of Government.

At the end of the Executive Session, Legislative reporters tried to talk to the House Leadership to no avail, as Deputy Speaker Hans Barchue, who presided over the session, refused to talk on grounds that he was rushing to a Grand Bassa County Caucus meeting.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Legislature conducted public hearings recently with ministries and agencies of government to defend their respective allotments in the budget.
