By Korboi K. Gbelewala, LINA Lofa County Correspondent

VOINJAMA, July 19 (LINA) -Salayea District Commissioner Galakpayan Barkolleh has vowed to put in place measures to ensure that the Ebola virus does not enter his district.

Commissioner Barkolleh disclosed that as part of preventive measures, buckets with chlorine water have been placed at the entrances to video clubs, entertainment centers and market places, and travelers from Guinea and other parts of the country are screened before entering the district.

Speaking recently during an Ebola Coordination meeting in Voinjama City, Commissioner Barkolleh added that authorities of the district are doing everything to ensure that security officers assigned at the various checkpoints enforce the preventive measures outlined by the health ministry.

The Salayea District Commissioner also disclosed that community dwellers are being sensitized on a daily basis about the deadly Ebolavirus and how to prevent it.

Meanwhile, Commissioner Barkolleh has dispelled rumors that residents of the district are not adhering to the preventive measures outlined by the health ministry to keep the country free of Ebola.

Since the outbreak of the Ebola virus in Liberia in March 2014, there has been no reported case of the disease in Salayea District.

At the same time, Commissioner Barkolleh has disclosed that as part of preparations for the July 26 Independence Day celebration, he has instructed his chiefs to side brush roads and clean towns and villages in his district.

He also disclosed that to mark the country's 168th Independence celebration, several activities including an indoor program, dancing competition and football match will take place with some government officials and prominent citizens of the district gracing the occasion.
