Kokoyah Citizens Endorse Commissioner Residence
By Philip T. Singbah, LINA Bong County Correspondent
KOKOYAH, July 9 (LINA) - Citizens of Kokoyah Sub-Administrative District in Bong County have agreed to use US$50,000 allotted from the county’s Social Development Fund (SDF) to the district to construct a commissioner’s residence in Rock Crusher, Kokoyah District.
Rock Crusher is the Administrative Headquarters of Kokoyah District in Bong County.
Making the disclosure to the Liberia News Agency in the district Thursday, Kokoyah District Commissioner David Bokay said the citizens made the decision at a recent development meeting in Rock Crusher.
Bokay said it was embarrassing that Kokoyah sub-Administrative District does not have a structure to house the local leadership, noting that documents regarding the citizens’ decision have been sent to the county Project Management Committee (PMC) for approval.
He said as soon as the PMC approves the documents, construction work will begin on the project.
It can be recalled that delegates at the 2012/2013 Bong County Development Council Sitting allotted US$50,000 to each of the 13 administrative districts in the county for development purposes.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Bokay has revealed that negotiations are ongoing with Arcelor Mittal and Atlantic Resources Logging Company to recondition the St. John River bridge which links Bong and Grand Bassa counties.
The bridge, according to Commissioner Bokay, is in a deplorable condition and needs urgent rehabilitation.
