GBARNGA, July 8 (LINA) - Construction of a Thesis Defense Hall at the Cuttington University has begun on the main campus of the university in Suakoko, Bong County.
The project, which is estimated to cost over US$30,000 is being sponsored by the Senior Class of the institution.
Making the disclosure to the Liberia News Agency (LINA) in Suakoko, Class President Lorwamon Duokie said the facility will provide an enabling environment for graduating students to defend their theses.
Duokie said the hall will also provide an opportunity for parents and sponsors of graduating students to witness the thesis defense ceremony.
The Cuttington University senior class President revealed that although funds for the project are still being raised, it was important to jump start the construction.
She hoped that pledges made during the induction of the leadership of the senior class would be forthcoming to complete the facility before the September graduation.
Cuttington University is expected to graduate over500 students in different disciplines in September this year, Doukie said.
The University is a private institution founded in 1889 as Cuttington College by Episcopal Church of the United States (ECUSA).
It is the oldest private, co-educational, four-year, degree-granting institution in sub-Saharan Africa.
