Grand Bassa Set County Council Sitting For July 15, But…

By Johnson Bobby Liway, LINA Grand Bassa County Correspondent

BUCHANAN, July 7 (LINA) – After a failed County Council Sitting was postponed by the Grand Bassa Legislative Caucus in District # 4, a new date, July 15, has been set for the meeting in Big Joe Town, Lower Harlandsville, Grand Bassa County.

This was officially disclosed Tuesday by County Information Officer Eddie L. Williams on a local radio station in Buchanan.

Williams said that the disclosure was made at a meeting between the Caucus, County Authorities and the Minister of Internal Affairs Morris Dukuly recently.

Accordingly, five persons each from the nine electoral districts of Grand Bassa will be chosen and accredited by Representatives and Commissioners of each district as delegates.

According to Williams, the Caucus resolved through a resolution that the present Project Management Committee (PMC) is hereby dissolved with immediate effect and they are not to attend the pending sitting.

The Caucus further resolved that anyone wishing to contest the chairmanship of the PMC should apply directly to the Caucus and be confirmed before the county sitting.

In a related development, Zoes, Chiefs, Elders, Bassa Youth Caucus, Bassa University Student Union and LINSU are no longer taking part as observers or delegates.

The official said while they should not attend the July 15 sitting, but if they so desire, then they should liaise with their districts of origin for accreditation.

Williams further disclosed that five eminent and prominent citizens of the county will be determined and accredited only by the Caucus.
