Chief Karwor Cautions Bassa Caucus To Reverse PMC Dismissal

By Johnson Bobby Liway, LINA Grand Bassa Correspondent

BUCHANAN, July 1 (LINA) -The Chief Zoe of Liberia, Mr. Zanzar Karwor has called on the Grand Bassa Legislative Caucus to reconsider its decision calling for the dismissal of the Project Management Committee (PMC).

Chief Karwor said the decision at this time is not appropriate in the midst of confusion where Caucus and county officials are divided over policies.

Speaking to the Liberia News Agency (LINA) recently, Karwor said the PMC was elected by the various districts of the county and cannot be removed by the Legislative Caucus on mere allegations.

He also appealed to the lawmakers to reconsider the holding of the County Council Sitting which was cancelled in District # 4 due to misunderstanding between county authorities and the Caucus, on one hand, and the Caucus and youths, on the other.

Karwor revealed that at the county sitting he was named ‘super delegate’ and charged with the responsibility to handle any dispute arising at the gathering.

According to him, “the Caucus really wants to show us that it alone can control our county and even the way they addressed the superintendent was not proper.”

It can be recalled that barely 72 hours to the holding of the county sitting, five out of seven members of the Bassa Caucus signed a resolution removing the head of the PMC, Ms. Elizabeth Barwon, and her corps of officers, and banned them from future elections.
