Wellington G Patrick, LINA Gbarpolu County Correspondent

SANNIQUELLIE, June 29 (LINA) - The Drugs Enforcement Agency (DEA) Nimba  detachment has burnt 364kg of marijuana worth over L$2.7 million.

Nimba County DEA Commander, Col. Julius Kanubah told journalists that the substances were burnt along the Sanniquellie-Ganta Highway as part of programs marking the celebration of World Day Against Illicit Drugs.

Kanubah said the drugs were arrested from several ghettos and at security check points across the county during the past months and that those arrested have been sent to court for prosecution.

The burning of the drugs was observed by representatives of the Local Authority, officers of the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL), the Liberian National Police, Youth, student leaders and the media.
