Patients Troop To Redemption Hospital  - Authorities

MONROVIA, June 29 (LINA) – Authorities at the Redemption Hospital in New Kru Town, Bushrod Island have affirmed that the hospital’s operations since its reopening in January 2015 have seen patients trooping to the facility in numbers to seek treatment.

A press release quotes the hospital authorities as, however, acknowledging that the hospital still faces challenges, ranging from lack of funding to procure sufficient drugs and equipment as well as the lack of trained staff in specialized areas.

According to the release, there is also need to renovate the hospital.

Redemption Hospital, the largest government-sponsored health facility providing free health services in Liberia, was shutdown in November 2014 when 12 of its staff members died from the deadly Ebola virus.

The hospital’s in-patient services were fully restored in February 2015 when Liberia began to make gains in its fight against the Ebola virus.

Redemption Hospital has for the past six months successfully performed emergency services, maternal, surgery, laboratory analysis, pediatric, gynecology and obstetrics services, among others, the release issued by the hospital said.

The release added that Redemption Hospital staffs are currently receiving mentoring, coaching and training in clinical care and communication skills and also have access to psychosocial support.
