MOE To Distribute Over 1 Million Text Books In Nimba

By Wellington G. Patrick, LINA Nimba County Correspondent

SANNIQUELLIE, June 23 (LINA) -The Ministry of Education (MoE) will Saturday, June 27, embark on the distribution of over 1million text books and instructional materials to elementary and junior high schools across Nimba County.

The team leader, Executive Director for Curriculum Development, Text Books and Research at the Ministry, Ms. Medi Herring Mensah, said the text books include English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies for Grades 5-9, and supplementary readers for Grades 1-4.

Among the supplies are political and physical maps of Liberia, West Africa, the Continent of Africa, and the world as well as Thesaurus, dictionaries and model globes.

According to Ms. Mensah, the books are supplied by the Ministry of Education with support from the World Bank through its program “Global Partnership for Education”.

The standardized books directly matching the academic curriculum of Liberia are largely written by Liberian publishers and are rich in local contents with Liberia first, Africa second and the world third.

She further disclosed that additional supplies of books for the secondary level of the Liberian school system are in print and expected in the country this academic year.
