Mannah Chief Appeals For Markets, Social Services
By David Pamas Seedee, LINA Bomi County Correspondent
TUBMANURG, June 21 (LINA) - The Clan Chief of Mannah, Klay District, Bomi County, Mr. Momo Gray, has appealed to the county authorities to construct a market building, modern latrines and hand pumps in the clan.
Chief Gray said the lack of a market is creating problems for marketers who usually place their goods under makeshift structures and tress to sell, especially on general market days.
Making the appeal in an interview with the Liberia News Agency in Klay on Friday, Chief Gray said nearly all of the towns and villages in Mannah Clan lack safe drinking water and latrines and called on the local authorities to quickly intervene.
He said in certain areas residents defecate in bushes and creeks, a situation he fears will cause health hazard for the people if nothing is done to remedy the problem.
He told LINA that the clan, which has over 2,000 inhabitants, lacks safe drinking water, leaving the residents fetch water from streams and rivers.
